We’re all about helping you restore that natural sparkle to your smile.

At Clearly Dental, we offer a range of restorative dentistry treatments that can help restore the function, appearance, and health of your teeth. These procedures can be both preventive and corrective in order to ensure that your mouth is as healthy as possible.

Our most common restorative procedures for chipped teeth, cracked teeth, missing teeth, gaps in your smile, and tooth decay include dentures, dental implants, fillings, crowns, and bridges.

We’re here for you. Let’s explore together the options that are best for your oral health.

Clear options for restoring the health of your teeth

White fillings

Even with a thorough oral hygiene routine, many people will require a filling at some stage in life. During a check-up, it’s possible our dentist might let you know when you need a filling to treat a cavity. From there, they’ll talk you through and clearly explain all the options.

White fillings, also known as composite fillings, are made of a resin and glass mixture and can be coloured to match your teeth perfectly. They are also easily moulded to an exact fit, restoring the correct shape and function to the tooth, so no one will know they’re there.

But… let’s avoid fillings in the first place.

Ideally, you want to avoid fillings as much as possible. While we can fix up any issues we spot with a variety of procedures, the first choice should always be to avoid them.

Start by ensuring you are brushing a minimum of twice a day. Remember that it takes two minutes to brush your teeth properly, so set a timer to adequately brush for this length of time. In addition to this, check you are using the correct brushing technique - our hygienist can show you how. It’s also important to floss daily, eat a healthy diet (avoiding sugars when possible), and to have a regular six-monthly check-up, just to stay on top of things.

Crowns and bridges

Crowns and bridges are two different types of fixed solutions that can restore the function and appearance of your smile

Crowns

Crowns are used to regain the strength and functionality of your natural teeth while also attending to many cosmetic dental imperfections. A damaged tooth is treated by bonding a custom-made, precisely fitted cap over the tooth as a cover to provide increased protection and restore functionality and appearance.

A crown can also act as a full replacement tooth used in conjunction with dental implants or a bridge to replace missing teeth. This can improve the shape and size of your teeth, which can, in turn, alleviate chewing problems and improve your speech.

Bridges

Bridges are a good option to replace multiple missing teeth in a row and can also be used to replace a singular tooth. The area left by a missing tooth is filled in by bridging a prosthetic tooth between two crowns bonded to the teeth on either side of the gap. Bridges are secured permanently in place and are natural in appearance, blending in with the rest of your teeth.

Caring for crowns and bridges

Bridges and crowns are fixed fixtures, but they are not indestructible and will need you to look after them so they can continue to look after your teeth.

Fortunately, bridge and crown care is very similar to regular oral hygiene. You'll need to brush them just like your natural teeth and floss around them as well. A healthy diet that's low in sugar will help protect your mouth from problems such as gingivitis, and regular check-ups with our dental team will ensure a professional is keeping an eye on things as well.
