Welcome to Clearly Dental; please take a seat.

At Clearly Dental, we aim to always exceed your expectations, through openness, transparency and trust.

Our purpose is to open up the complex world of dentistry with easy access, transparency, and trust.

Why choose Clearly Dental to be your new dentist?

We know that the last thing you need are complicated treatment plans and unexpected costs hitting you when you’re in the dentist chair. You want a local dentist who is transparent, and that’s who we are. We let you know what things cost upfront to avoid bill shock down the track.

We also know that dental treatment plans can sound intimidating, like foreign language. We want you to feel relaxed and in the know about your visit to the dentist. Because we have a progressive approach to technology and care, it’s easier for us to provide you with clear treatment explanations, options, and recommendations.

Our dental services are clearly priced and clearly explained so you’ll always know what to expect. Which, clearly, is how it should be

New patient? Let’s break it down…

Perhaps you’ve recently moved or perhaps you’ve been putting off getting a check-up. Either way, visiting a new dentist for the first time can be daunting. We understand.

At Clearly Dental, it’s important to us that you have the best experience possible – starting from the first time we meet. Knowing what to expect at your first appointment with us will help to reduce some nerves.

What to expect at Clearly Dental?

Welcome

Walking into Clearly Dental, you’ll be greeted by our friendly front desk staff, who’ll want to get to know you a little better. As a new patient, you’ll be asked to complete a medical history form. To provide the best possible care, it’s our obligation to make sure we know about certain aspects of your health. Don’t fret, though: we abide by privacy laws, so rest easy that your information is in safe hands.

Meeting your dentist

As with any first meeting, this is a time for you to get to know the dentist and for them to get to know you. This first appointment will take roughly 30-60mins.

We’ll ask about any past dentistry problems or concerns you may have. If you’ve provided them, we’ll look at past dental records from your previous dentist. These are always to understand the details of past treatments and/or issues. The first consultation is the perfect time to bring up any concerns, even if they are not pressing, such as discomfort or questions about oral hygiene.

We’ll also talk to you about aspects of your general wellbeing that can affect your oral health, such as whether or not you are a smoker, current medications you’re on, or if you have any medical allergies.

The Check-up

Once we’re done with the formalities, our dentist will then start a comprehensive examination. We’ll have a thorough look at your teeth, gums, and overall mouth health to ascertain if there are any pressing problems that need to be addressed. You can expect to have your jaw, lips, tongue, and cheeks checked thoroughly. We’ll look at your overall gum health, how you bite, and any existing dental work such as fillings or crowns.

Photos and X-Rays

If you haven't had a recent X-ray, your new Clearly Dental dentist will want to take a closer look at your teeth and jaw. By looking in your mouth, we can only see the part of the tooth that sits above the gum. We use bitewing X-rays to help us see the whole picture. This way, we can see the insides of your teeth, the bits that sit below the gum, and parts of your surrounding jaw bone.

An X-ray can help to identify conditions by showing decay, signs of gum disease, and abscesses. X-rays form an important part of a comprehensive dental examination and they allow us to accurately assess your overall oral health.

Taking photos allows us to have record of the current health and status of your teeth. They also allow us to keep an eye on existing dental work such as fillings and crowns to make sure they are still working as they should.

The Clean and Polish

We’ll finish your first appointment with a clean and polish.

Through scaling we’ll remove tartar buildup, which hides disease-causing bacteria. We’ll use special instruments to scrape off the hard tartar and give your teeth a good polish. A polish can remove surface stains and leave your teeth feeling smooth and clean

Setting up a Treatment Plan

By discussing a treatment plan with your dentist, you can be empowered to better look after your teeth at home. A treatment plan might include advice to improve your dental hygiene habits of brushing and flossing, recommended lifestyle changes, and options for further recommend treatments if required.

If we’ve identified the need for further treatments, we will discuss this with you on the day and guide you through a recommended plan of attack. Sometimes minor treatments can be done at this appointment; however, you always have the option to schedule this for another day.

What happens next?

If you need another appointment to treat any concerns, our friendly reception team can help you schedule this in.

Your dentist will advise you on when you should return for another check-up. Generally, we recommend setting up a regular six-monthly appointment.

At Clearly Dental we’re transparent about treatment costs and you are always in control of your own treatment plan.

At Clearly Dental, it’s important to us that you’re empowered to take care of your oral health and we want you to feel relaxed and in-the-know about what to expect when visiting us for the first time. But if you have questions or you’d like to know more, please don’t hesitate to call your local Clearly Dental for more information
